Five cool ways to spend $10 online

What are the coolest things that you can buy online for under $10? Not necessarily gift ideas, just great ways to empty those last few dollars from your Paypal.
The traditional goldmine-for-the-weird-and-wacky is eBay. A quick browse will throw up a mind numbing array of pointless cool stuff that you just don't wana have. How about an egg carton stamped with the date 9/11? This piece of ridiculous crap could be yours for a mere $4.44 (eggs not included), and is billed as a "Commemorative egg carton" which will form "part of American history". Okay dokey.
Other eBay treats include a Wal-Mart bag a snip at just $6.50, and a selection of Iraqi bank notes starting at $3.10.
Now let's get serious. How many times have you gazed at a blank iPod or mobile phone screen wishing you'd packed the charger? Step in Arron Dunlop. Arron has built a USB charger out of a used Altoids Gum tin that is powered by any standard 9v battery. This uber-cool device has proved so popular that he's now started selling do-it-yourself kits on his website arrondunlap.com for $9.50. All you need is an Altoids (or similar) tin and you're away.
How about ditching email for a day and sending a letter through the post instead? For those of you who can remember how, why not enclose your letter in a SallyDog.com envelope? These fun envelopes a plastered with messages on the front such as "Adult Diapers by Mail Inc Enclosed is the catalog you requested" and "Herpes Foundation Your test results are in, contact us immediately". Childish I know, but surely a students dream. Remember to forget the stamp to ensure maximum embarrassment.
How about splashing out on some cheap good will? Theonemillionmasterpiece.com are offering you the chance to buy a piece of the world's largest painting in return for a $6.50 donation to charity. The scheme allows you to draw a section of this massive picture online, which will be printed and unveiled on World Population Day 2007 in London (flight not included!).
Still in the mood for giving? Why not get personal and donate to someone in need, or a fictitious scrounger, your choice. At digitalcharity.com you can choose from a whole array of desperate people. My pick of the day would be Michelle, who's looking for $10 to buy a present for a friends baby boy (ahhhh), or the father of three children who's trying to finish his school education. Poor fella, but at least the sex was good.
So let me refresh. Today's list of cool stuff under $10 is:
1) Anything in the Weird Stuff category at eBay
2) An Altoids Gum tin USB charger from arrondunlop.com
3) Comedy envelopes from sallydog.com
4) A piece of art history at theonemillionmasterpiece.com
5) Support a down-and-out in need at digitalcharity.com
