If the flaky skin continues for a few days, this is probably a rash. There are many creams and lotions on the market. Check with your pediatrician before buying any products over the counter. The over the counter remedy may cause more harm than good. Many infants can't handle the chemicals in some products. A simple phone call to the pediatrician may handle the situation. I would prefer the doctor see the baby in person just in case another type of prescription medicine would help.

It is hard to tell what an infant is allergic to. Allergies are usually diagnosed at a later age. The diaper you are using may be the culprit for the rash. It is always good to do a background check on diapers before using them. Cloth diapers can cause severe rashes if they are not cleaned. No matter what type of diaper you use, make sure it is not tight on the baby. The bundled areas around the leg have to be semi-loose. Take the platter and put tape pieces over it. Place first layer of baby cake on the platter. Add few more pieces and place the next layer. Like wise, include the third layer. Tuck all baby items around the cake. Finish your diaper cake by tying one-inch ribbon around every layer.

How to Make a Diaper Baby Cake for a Baby Shower

Are you planning a shower for a friend or family member and dreading it? Baby showers are not like they used to be, and there are many trends that have improved and updated the traditional baby shower. Some of those trends are even funny and clever, including the new diaper baby cake.

A diaper cake is not a baked treat. It is a way to present a shower gift. Every mother can tell you that they change more diapers than they care to remember during the first year of their baby�s life. The simple fact is that diapers quickly become a way of life for new parents. A diaper cake is an excellent, creative way to gift new parents with the baby care essentials that they need and will use every day, if not every three hours.

It is very easy to find the ingredients for your diaper cake. You will need approximately sixty diapers and small rubber bands, ribbon, a plastic cake platter, one four ounce baby bottle, and one eight ounce baby bottle. You will also need some cake decorations to create the illusion of a cake. You may also want to purchase pacifiers, rattles, teething rings, onsies, lotions, and stuffed animals to make your diaper cake more exciting.

Assembly is quite easy. The first thing you will need to do is prepare the first layer. You will need to roll five or six diapers tightly. You will need to unfold each diaper and then roll each diaper individually. Secure each rolled diaper with a small rubber band, the tighter the better. Take five or six rolled diapers and secure them around an 8 ounce baby bottle or a large bottle of lotion. The second layer will use the four ounce bottle or a smaller hygiene product in order to secure the layer. The second layer will be two layers deep, and the third layer will only consist of one layer of diapers.

The next step is to decorate your cake. You can use pre-made decorative sugar decorations to give your cake the �bakery� appearance. Do not use icing or frosting to decorate the diaper cake. Remember, the purpose of these diapers is to be used by a baby, so you will need to decorate accordingly. Last year my best furry friend Baby, who is getting up in years, started having accidents around the house. We had her checked and there were no good solutions offered. The pill frequently prescribed for this type of problem was of little use and the accidents became more frequent.

I have to admit it was driving us half crazy dealing with soiled carpet and furniture. I even found myself wondering the unthinkable thought of giving her up and new a fast solution was needed.

Baby and I have always been close and were rarely more then a few yards apart. I could tell she was stressing over this problem too. It finally occurred to us the answer was under our very noses, hidden in the warehouse, but needed some tweaking to handle out type of problem.

Diaper garments have been around forever, but most are designed to handle seasonal issues and light marking style accidents and do little alone to hold back the flow of urine. So my wife, Linda, played around with the idea to put our lives back to normal.

By discovering that the better cloth diapers coupled with a common item in every department and drug store, ladies panty liner for bladder problems, can stop most, if not all the accidents. Easy to care for and simple to use, these comfortable diapers were quickly adapted and now Baby will stand by the door after a walk to have her diaper put back on.

Co-ed Baby Showers

There is a new trend sweeping baby showers all over the United States and it's called a co-ed baby shower. Instead of the mother-to-be celebrating the new precious life that is about to come into this world. Now both the mother and father to be can celebrate together with friends and family, and yes boys are invited.

This seemed odd to me at first because most guys I know wouldn't want to come to a baby shower, but a couples baby shower can actually be a lot of fun. So if you want a co-ed baby shower here are some things to consider before actually having one.

Make sure you have more then one guy, aka the father to be attending the baby shower. Your husband will most likely be clear on if he would even attend the co-ed baby shower. We all know how guys are. So make sure his buddies are willing to come and they aren't going to be loud and obnoxious. This is still a baby shower not a football party. Again we all know how some guys can be. I think every guy has that one friend that there spouse can't stand.

Make sure that you can include family as well, if you can't you might want to have two baby showers. If you have a lot of family that is older or you are going to serve alcohol at your party it is better not to mix fun and family.

Make sure to keep the boys entertained with funny baby shower games like: Have baby bottles filled with beer or wine or whatever you choose to drink, if this is a non-alcoholic party then milk or juice. Line up a bunch of guys and have a drinking contest out of baby bottles. This can get a little wild so again make sure your other guests are okay with boys being at a baby shower.

Another fun game is having around five or so plastic baby dolls all with diapers on, but the diapers are dirty. Put mustard or candy bars in the diapers, have the boys have a diaper changing contest with baby wipes and all, you can even have diaper rash cream. You can have little baby changing stations set up on a table with everything they may need to change a diaper. The boy that changes the diaper correctly, the fastest wins a prize.

Have prizes that both men and woman would like also include the girls in some games as well. Make sure your invitations include the couples name and have it say something like co-ed baby shower so people will know.

Don't be afraid to decorate all babyish, after all everyone knows it is a baby shower. There will just be guys there. Have fun and remember co-ed baby showers can be a blast if you plan it right.

Disposable baby diapers have a huge business potential in the United States. This is because most of the parents find baby diapers more convenient as compared to cloth diapers. Other than this, you are not required to wash a disposable diaper.

Disposable diapers were introduced in 1940s, but became popular only gradually. This is because they were expensive in the beginning and not many people could afford to buy them. In addition, early diapers came only in single size and did not fit most of the babies. Therefore, the leakage was more profuse in disposable diapers than cloth diapers. However, disposable diapers started appearing in multiple sizes and designs in 1950's, but they were more popular with rich class. You will not understand how hard it can be to find the right unique baby gift for your first baby until you are invited to a baby shower. After all, baby showers often turn into an extravagant event, where each person tries to outdo the others with getting just the perfect gift. If your circle isn't like that, you still want to get something that will make you remembered. Everyone dreams of getting the baby boy or baby girl her favorite toy, providing them something they will cherish growing up. Picking out the perfect unique baby gift can be just this opportunity.

Before you go on baby shopping, of course you have to remember that little ones are notoriously arbitrary in their tastes. Sometimes a gift that looks like a good idea will be completely ignored, or something as simple as a ball of socks or a little jangly toy will capture the baby's attention for hours. Personalized baby gifts are great way to show the parents how much you care, but remember that the baby him or herself is likely to destroy a delicate blanket or bib within days, if not hours. Until the time came when my niece is pregnant with her first child. She and her husband have tried to get pregnant for several years, so they are very excited about getting their family started. I was invited to a baby shower. I knew that my niece had been doing a great deal of shopping for the baby already; so I wanted to purchase special baby gifts that she had not already purchased or seen. The department stores did not offer any special baby gifts; they had items that have been around for years.

When I was at the shopping mall, I mentioned to one of the sales clerks that I needed special baby gifts for my niece's baby. She stated that the store did have a line of infant things that can be personalized with the baby's name. This sounded intriguing to me so I asked to see what was available in this line of merchandise. The clerk had several items in stock that she was able to show me. She showed me bibs that were embroidered with the infants name on them. She showed me a baby blanket that was embroidered with not only the baby's name, but the date of birth and weight and length at birth. Each of these special baby gifts needed to be special ordered and would be available in a week to ten days after the order was placed. The clerk also showed me several items in a catalog including diapers that were personalized with the baby's name. I did like the unique aspects of these special baby gifts; however the shower was going to be held prior to the baby's birth so I would not have the information that was needed to have the items personalized.

So, I tend to look for another store to find baby gift for my niece's baby. Until I found a small store that was filled with special baby gifts. This store had many of the same things from the department store, but they have a local seamstress that will complete the personalization within a day. I decided to purchase several of the special baby gifts. I bought the baby blanket that could have the baby's personal information embroidered on. I also bought a picture frame that had a place to engrave the baby's name. The picture frame also had space to frame the birth certificate next to the baby's photo. I had the clerk wrap the gifts and she included a card with the shops name and telephone number so that my niece could have the embroidery and engraving completed once the baby was named. The shop charges a flat rate for the embroidery and engraving, which I paid for at the time of purchase. My niece would not have to pay anything to complete the personalization.

There are some great unique baby gifts out there that was mentioned above. My niece was very happy with the special baby gifts that I gave for her baby. She knew where the shop was, but had not gone into it. We made plans that I would go with her during her maternity leave to have the special baby gifts finished off.

And I have found out that one of the unique baby gift that is guaranteed to please is a handmade blanket. When I was a little kid, my grandmother made me be just such a blanket. It was delicate, with a lot of brightly colored yarn. I found it soft and comfortable, and carried it around for years afterwards. By the time I was done with it, it was little more than a bunch of threadbare cotton. Nonetheless, I still loved it.

Remember that some babies, the louder and more flashy a toy, the better. Electronic toys are all the rage for baby shower presents, even if they aren't very unique baby gifts. Kids like things with buttons that you can press to make them flash. Just make sure that the kid doesn't have the same toy already - there's nothing like a duplicate present to disappoint a young child.
